Nitro asked a very good question. What did we do to get the cuffs on? NOTHING!!! The Mother says it was to protect her furniture from our claws. You see, The Mother, inherited some "very nice" furniture from our Great Grandmother who recently wented passed away. The Mother doesn't want us ruining the new furniture like we did the old. AS IF!!!!! We didn't ruin anything. Those sofas just weren't made for cats. It isn't our fault if the arms wore out and started sagging and exposing the sofas guts! We are cats, we scratch!
The Grandmother, brace yourselves, suggested that the Mother just declaw us. %&(#&_#(^((*!!!!!!!!!!!! Fortunately, the Mother said couldn't physically harm her kitties in anyway. But what about the mental and emotional harm caused by flipping us over, spreading our paws and gluing nail caps to our claws!!!!!!!!!!!!! Granted, I don't even feel them any more but still...it is the priniciple of the thing!!!!!

Badness, I'm sorry to hear these things work so well.
I'm afraid I will just pull back a bloody stump if I try to put those on Mrs. B. But to tell the truth Bubbles does most of the damage around here. And he is an outside/inside kitty so might need his claws.
thanks for the 'splanation, although it sounds like hooey to me. it's true that some furniture ages more quckly than other furniture, and if kitties are around, they are usually accused of being the cause. not fair! we've never torn up anything but our scratching posts and each other. couldn't The Mother have waited a bit to see if you were gonna have a badness attack?
i'm sorry you have been demeaned this way, but glad to hear you're adapting. it beats the h@ll out of declawing; good for The Mother to tell the Old Mother "no way" on that!

Um, the caps are better than declawing and MUCH better than losing yur home, which could happen if yur Mom likes the furniture so much. Bonnie's front declawed (fur clawin beans an bein xtremely snarky) but she's still managed to scratch a few fings wif her back claws, specially running or jumpin on anyfing wood.
Ya know, the Calico Girls are right, maybe yur new claw covers are pretty.
Ok, I would definitely prefer the nail caps to declawing. At least you got the lesser of two very big evils, Badness.
